Stay, shop and socialise in the heart of the city with the York Gift Card.
York Gift Card is an initiative designed to support city centre businesses by locking spend into York’s economy. Since its launch in October 2019, the programme has rapidly grown to become the largest of its kind in the UK and now includes over 350 businesses.
What is the Gift Card scheme?
The Gift Card scheme is a key York BID business support initiative. You can find other ways in which York BID supports and empowers local businesses on our dedicated web page. To date, over £260,000 worth of cards have been sold – all funds that have been locked into the city centre, rather than out of town shopping centres or online. The York Gift Card supports local businesses and, therefore, local jobs and livelihoods.
The York Gift Card is now available in both physical and digital formats. The recent launch of the digital card has allowed even more businesses to join the programme.

To use your physical gift card, firstly check you have enough money on it by scanning the QR code on the back of the card. Then let your cashier know you’re paying with the York Gift Card and simply swipe your card downwards on the card machine.
To use your digital card, download the Love Local app, add the balance to your digital wallet, and make a purchase using Apple, Android or Google Pay.
