The BID means business – raising money for St Leonards Hospice.
The York BID are asking for your support to raise money for St Leonards Hospice. St Leonards is a much loved and valued charity that is close to the heart of the BID team and many other York residents.
To fundraise, the BID are entering a team in this years Dragon Boat Races which are organised by the York Rotary Club. The BID team is made up of the BID delivery team, the BID Street Rangers and some of our business associates.
Jo Little, the BID team captain said, “We’d be really grateful for any support to help us reach our target to support the fantastic work that St Leonards do. Our initial target is £1,500 but we’d love to raise as much as possible.”
St Leonard’s Hospice is an independent charity, providing care and support for terminally ill people and people with life limiting illnesses. And they’ve been doing it for more than 35 years. Their patients’ needs are their priority, and their care is designed to make the best of their lives. At the Hospice, at home, and in the community.
They serve a wide area including York, Easingwold, Selby, Sherburn-in-Elmet, Tadcaster, Pocklington, Pickering, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside.
Their care is free of charge to patients and their families but not free to provide. As a charity they rely heavily on the generosity of the public and businesses like the BID to help raise nearly £6 million that it costs each year to run St Leonard’s Hospice.
Caitlin Hazell, Partnerships Team Leader at St Leonard’s Hospice said “We are delighted that York BID is supporting the Hospice by participating in the Dragon Boat Race this year. Businesses like the York BID play a vital role in supporting the Hospice and we will be there to cheer them on at the event!”
