Paddington Visits York!
York BID is excited to announce the arrival of a very exciting visitor and VIB to York city centre.
Paddington has taken up residence in Dean’s Park to celebrate the release of Paddington In Peru, coming to cinemas on 8th November. York is one of 23 locations taking part in Paddington Visits, a trail which will see these bear-y special statues appearing in cities, towns, and beauty spots all over the UK and Ireland.
Rachel Bean, Project Manager at York BID said: ‘We are so excited to bring this incredibly
special bench to York as part of Paddington Visits. Paddington has a place in all our hearts, and
this magical bench will bring a touch of warmth to residents and visitors during the colder winter
months. Thank you to York Minster for giving Paddington the most beautiful home.’
Paddington was unveiled to special guests by the city’s Town Crier and Lord Mayor of York on 9th October. Everyone was buzzing with excitement as they gathered to welcome their newest neighbour: a
meticulously crafted and painted statue sporting the wise bear’s signature red hat, blue duffle
coat, and, naturally, a marmalade sandwich in paw.
Paddington will be enjoying the spectacular views of York Minster for the foreseeable future, so there is plenty of opportunity for everyone to enjoy spending time with Paddington, take plenty of photos, and maybe share a marmalade sandwich or two.
This project is brought to you by York BID, Studio Canal, and York Minster.
