The award-winning Ghosts in the Gardens has another successful autumn!

York BID enjoyed another successful autumn of Ghosts in the Gardens; a popular trail that sees eerie figures residing in York’s beautiful city centre gardens.

This year’s trail featured even more ghosts than ever before, with 39 translucent 3D sculptures skillfully formed from wire mesh by local design company, Unconventional Designs. Visitors saw monks, Vikings, painters, archers, and even a phantom peacock!

The sculptures were installed in 14 different locations across the city: Museum Gardens, The Artists’ Garden, Treasurer’s House, Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, Middletons Hotel, St Anthony’s Garden, Barley Hall, Shambles, Clifford’s Tower, The Judge’s Lodging, DIG, Castle Museum Mill, Edible Wood and Library Lawn.

Ghosts in the Gardens is a free and family-friendly activity for all ages and is a great way to experience York’s rich history and folklore. The trail won the ‘Best Place’ marketing award at a national placemaking conference last year.
