Encouraging good habits to help keep York tidy

The BID have been working on encouraging good habits so that people leave our city as beautiful as they found it with their ‘Go Greener in York’ campaign.

Earlier this year the BID installed cigarette bins on information towers which were placed in high footfall locations around the city centre. The information towers carry messages encouraging people to dispose of cigarette ends responsibly, use litter bins, and use a bag for life.

The BID have also been helping businesses deal with cigarette litter outside their businesses by providing new cigarette bins and replacing old ones at hospitality venues.

Venues to benefit from new bins include Hotel Indigo, Slug & Lettuce, Yates and The Hole In Wand. Replacement bins have been installed at many businesses, including Jalou, Popworld, The Terrace and Fossgate Social.
